SheSays Brighton: "What's the Big Idea?"... creativity & innovation

A Brighton Digital Festival special

Thursday 22 September 2016 -   6.30pm

at Sallis Benney Theatre, 58-67 Grand Parade, Brighton UK BN2 0JY

Welcome to a MASSIVE SheSays Brighton evening of networking at the Sallis Benney with five terrific speakers talking about their BIG IDEAS. We listened to you: here's a set of lightning talks with more time for networking in the bar after. Sign up for your free ticket now.

We're very excited to welcome Helen Kennedy, Head of Media at University of Brighton, an academic specialist in gaming and technology. As well as her many books and articles published in this area, she organised the first UK international conference in games in 2001. We can't wait to hear about her new project to disrupt the games industry through diversity. @artsbrighton

Be inspired by journalist Coral James O'Connor! Having worked in radio, TV and and the online media industry, she is currently a Teaching Fellow at the University of Sussex, planning her PhD in Social Media and Politics. Coral worked for former US Vice President Al Gore's TV company, in partnership with Google and The Guardian before playing a key part in creating the Multimedia Broadcast Journalism degree at the University of Brighton.

We're delighted to welcome back serial entrepreneur Natalie Lloyd, Director at MOHARA, a digital studio developing sustainable and engaging products to help businesses grow. She's also launched What Women Want and curated TEDx Brighton. Let's ask her about her latest exciting project ISpy Visuals. @natalie_l_loyd

Be dazzled by the work of freelance television producer and director Farrah Jaufuraully. She's worked on award winning TV programmes for Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery, Sky and the BBC. With over 10 years in the industry, Farrah has proved you can make a career out of creativity and get paid for it! @WhatIMightThink

Meet the wonderful Miriam Randall, Executive Director of Lighthouse who oversees the successful development of the international culture agency; with live events (Progress Bar, The Sound of Story) and initiatives like Guiding Lights, they are building a vibrant hub for radical new art, music, film, games, and digital culture in Brighton. Ask her what inspired her career, from free-thinking role models, to her former life as a touring musician performing across the UK. @LighthouseArts

Many thanks to University of Brighton for their kind support and to technical development company Amido for providing the free drinks!

We can't wait to see you there!
