After discovering that women are 50% less likely to set up a business than men (only 1 in 7 applicants are women) Innovate UK decided to take positive action.

To help remove the barriers faced by female entrepreneurs today, Innovate UK ran its first female-only competition last year.

Following the success of the first awards, they announced new support and funding for the second-round of their women-only competition. The funding and support package aims to encourage more females in innovation, focusing on:

• AI and the data economy
• Clean growth
• Future of mobility
• Ageing society
