The creative industry can be an exciting and challenging landscape to work in, and the path you take is totally up to you. Once you pick a direction, though, it helps to have a professional there to offer some guidance along the way. That’s where our Who’s Your Momma event comes in. SheSays Chicago has assembled some of the top women and men in creative for the sole purpose of helping YOU. Our mentors come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are here to answer questions and share insight on specialized topics chosen by our community. Who’s Your Momma offers something for everyone, women and men at any career level... and all you need to do is register.

Here’s how our event will work: You register for ONE of four breakout sessions you would like to join, then come prepared with questions.

1. Is it too late to reinvent yourself?

It’s never too late to reinvent yourself! We all have goals that we say are important to us — getting in shape, building a business, writing a book, and so on — but for most of us, the inertia of life holds us back. Join this breakout session to learn the important steps to take towards reinvention.
MENTORS:
Dan Fiestam, Chief Creative Officer at Laughlin Constable
L'Oreal Thompson Payton, Media Relations Manager at Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana
Len Perez, Sr. UX Designer at Purchasing Platform
Claudia Richman, Organizational Design + Change Management Consultant
Ayanna Shamese, Associate Creative Director, Burrell Communications

2. The Do's and Don'ts of resumes, cover letters and job searching
It’s about that time - to dust off the resume and steam your “Interview suit”. Whether you are switching careers or looking for advancement opportunities, it’s never too late to learn the keys to a successful job search, and how to prepare and write a strong and focused resume and cover letter.
MENTORS:
Tom Bogdan, Director of Client Services at Onward Search
Jim Conti, Director of Talent at Sprout Social
Cyndi McVicker Lambert, Talent Scout for OKRP
Alyssa Low, Senior Designer at The Office of Experience
Kerri Schoonyoung, Partner at Dept. 11

3. Making the most of networking and conferences

Most of us are not born networkers. This session will help set you on the path to developing skills that will be effective at conferences and networking events.
MENTORS:
Amanda Elliott, Founder and Blogger at Windy City Cosmo
Kyle O'Connor, VP of Finance and Accounting at Brookfield Management
Denayja Reese, Freelance Event Producer
Barbara Rozgonyi, CoryWest Media CEO, Founder Social Media Club Chicago

4. Working on and leveraging personal and side projects
Taking on a side project can be quite a commitment. It takes time, energy and resources, and quite often you are working on projects after-hours or on weekends. This session will explore why the hard work and passion are worth it.
MENTORS:
Ari Krzyzek, Creative Director and Chief Designer at Chykalophia Group
Skip Tramontana, Creative Director at Innocean USA
More mentors coming! Stay tuned.
